Ambode Outlaws Omo Onile

If you have ever lived in Lagos, been to Lagos or tried to erect any structure in Lagos you must have very well heard of or encountered these guys called "Omo onile"

Omo onile have always been one  of the major menace investors fear in Lagos. In a bid to encourage investment, Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Amobode has taken a very huge step by banning the activities of Omo onile with signing of The Lagos State Properties Protection Law.

Governor Ambode who highlighted that a lot of investors and would-be property owners scared away from Lagos because of the untold hardship and embarrassment they face from land grabbers, but with the  signing of the Lagos State Properties Protection Law such occurrence would stop.

He said
"The Lagos State Properties Protection Law will give legal backing to the operations of ourlaw enforcement officers. The main objectiveof this Law is to ensure that our investors, businessmen and the general populace carry on their legitimate land/property transactions without any hindrance or intimidation henceforth. The Property Law will eliminate the activities of persons or corporate entities who use force and intimidation to dispossess or prevent any person or entity from acquiring legitimate interest and possession of property, ensure that the Special Task Force on Land-Grabbers work with all Security agencies to ensure enforcement of State Government and Private property rights in the State, and ensure proper coordination of the efforts of the various agencies of government charged with enforcing the state government's rights over land in Lagos".

Governor Ambode also in the bid to secure lives and properties of all who lives i n Lagos also  signed the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps Law. The Lagos Neighborhood safety Corps Law is aimed at not just protecting lives but to help all authorities work around the clock to see to the security of investment and to wow investors to invest in a well secured Lagos. He said “In addition to equipping our security agencies, we have now created a legal framework to put some form of communal protection in place to boost and support the great job the Nigeria Police is presently doing".
