Na him make I talk say I go ride my bike reach China if one dollar equal to one Naira. I know that was part of your sound bite during your campaign. Nothing spoil, na Una way.

Now, work don set. I know you understand why our expectations are high, so you can't blame us too much, because we have been lied to, over and over again by most of our insincere leaders. By faith or design, you have become a symbol of renaissance for a nation that has been battered by mismanagement and unprecedented corruption.
Kai! Odiegwu!
Weather or not you live up to that billing, time would tell.

Many Naijas were sold on your Change Campaign, tired of the usual statuesque and many more just wanted a better life for themselves and their  loved ones. All eyes are on you, I trust you know that by now. Let your actions and words demonstrate to us possibilities, hope again for the youths of this country and a channeling back to those core values which we hold sacred. Anything less will be same of the same.  Shey you get?  E no go nice if I organise boys to shout for your head.

I would want to believe that you have come to heal and fix the rot.
It will never be easy because of the wolves and sharks amongst us who benefit big time from the corruption, the poverty, the confusion and hopelessness they inflict on Nigerians.
All I ask of you, is to pay attention to the youths of this country whose future has been stolen by the fantastically corrupt leaders.

Oga me, e don set oooooo.

Best Regards.

2016 DEMOCRACY DAY SPEECH BY PRESIDENT BUHARI.

MAY 29th 2016!! DEMOCRACY DAY
NATIONAL BROADCAST BY
PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI
My compatriots,
It is one year today since our administration came into office. It has been a year of triumph, consolidation, pains and achievements. By age, instinct and experience, my preference is to look forward, to prepare for the challenges that lie ahead and rededicate the administration to the task of fixing Nigeria. But I believe we can also learn from the obstacles we have overcome and the progress we made thus far, to help strengthen the plans that we have in place to put Nigeria back on the path of progress.
We affirm our belief in democracy as the form of government that best assures the active participation and actual benefit of the people. Despite the many years of hardship and disappointment the people of this nation have proved inherently good, industrious tolerant, patient and generous.
The past years have witnessed huge flows of oil revenues. From 2010 average oil prices were $100 per barrel. But economic and security conditions were deteriorating. We campaigned and won the election on the platform of restoring security, tackling corruption and restructuring the economy. On our arrival, the oil price had collapsed to as low as $30 per barrel and we found nothing had been kept for the rainy day. Oil prices have been declining since 2014 but due to the neglect of the past, the country was not equipped to halt the economy from declining.
The infrastructure, notably rail, power, roads were in a decrepit state. All the four refineries were in a state of disrepair, the pipelines and depots neglected.
Huge debts owed to contractors and suppliers had accumulated. Twenty-seven states could not pay salaries for months. In the north-east, Boko Haram had captured 14 local governments, driven the local authorities out, hoisted their flags. Elsewhere, insecurity was palpable; corruption and impunity were the order of the day. In short, we inherited a state near collapse.
On the economic front, all oil dependent countries, Nigeria included, have been struggling since the drop in prices. Many oil rich states have had to take tough decisions similar to what we are doing. The world, Nigeria included has been dealing with the effects of three significant and simultaneous global shocks starting in 2014:
A 70% drop in oil prices.
Global growth slowdown.
Normalization of monetary policy by the United States federal reserve.
Our problems as a government are like that of a farmer who in a good season harvests ten bags of produce. The proceeds enable him to get by for rest of the year. However, this year he could only manage 3 bags from his farm. He must now think of other ways to make ends meet.
From day one, we purposely set out to correct our condition, to change Nigeria. We reinforced and galvanized our armed forces with new leadership and resources. We marshaled our neighbours in a joint task force to tackle and defeat Boko Haram. By the end of December 2015, all but pockets and remnants had been routed by our gallant armed forces. Our immediate focus is for a gradual and safe return of internally displaced persons in safety and dignity and for the resumption of normalcy in the lives of people living in these areas.
EFCC was given the freedom to pursue corrupt officials and the judiciary was alerted on what Nigerians expect of them in the fight against corruption. On the economy, in particular foreign exchange and fuel shortages, our plan is to save foreign exchange by fast tracking repair of the refineries and producing most of our fuel requirements at home. And by growing more food in Nigeria, mainly rice, wheat and sugar we will save billions of dollars in foreign exchange and drastically reduce our food import bill.
We resolved to keep the Naira steady, as in the past, devaluation had done dreadful harm to the Nigerian economy. Furthermore, I supported the monetary authority’s decision to ensure alignment between monetary policy and fiscal policy. We shall keep a close look on how the recent measures affect the Naira and the economy. But we cannot get away from the fact that a strong currency is predicated on a strong economy. And a strong economy pre-supposes an industrial productive base and a steady export market.
The measures we must take, may lead to hardships. The problems Nigerians have faced over the last year have been many and varied. But the real challenge for this government has been reconstructing the spine of the Nigerian state. The last twelve months have been spent collaborating with all arms of government to revive our institutions so that they are more efficient and fit for purpose:
That means a bureaucracy better able to develop and deliver policy
That means an independent judiciary, above suspicion and able to defend citizen’s rights and dispense justice equitably.
That means a legislature that actually legislates effectively and
Above all; that means political parties and politicians committed to serving the nigerian people rather than themselves.
These are the pillars of the state on which democracy can take root and thrive. But only if they are strong and incorruptible. Accordingly, we are working very hard to introduce some vital structural reforms in the way we conduct government business and lay a solid foundation on which we can build enduring change.
An important first step has been to get our housekeeping right. So we have reduced the extravagant spending of the past. We started boldly with the treasury single account, stopping the leakages in public expenditure.
We then identified forty-three thousand ghost workers through the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information system. That represents pay packets totalling N4.2 billion stolen every month. In addition, we will save Twenty-Three Billion Naira per annum from official travelling and sitting allowances alone.
Furthermore, the efficiency unit will cut costs and eliminate duplications in ministries and departments. Every little saving helps. The reduction in the number of ministries and work on restructuring and rationalization of the MDAs is well underway. When this work is complete we will have a leaner, more efficient public service that is fit for the purpose of changing nigeria for the good and for good.
As well as making savings, we have changed the way public money is spent. In all my years as a public servant, I have never come across the practice of padding budgets. I am glad to tell you now we not only have a budget, but more importantly, we have a budget process that is more transparent, more inclusive and more closely tied to our development priorities than in the recent past. 30% of the expenditure in this budget is devoted to capital items. Furthermore, we are projecting non-oil revenues to surpass proceeds from oil. Some critics have described the budget exercise as clumsy. Perhaps. But it was an example of consensus building, which is integral to democratic government. In the end we resolved our differences.
We have, therefore, delivered significant milestones on security, corruption and the economy. In respect of the economy, I would like to directly address you on the very painful but inevitable decisions we had to make in the last few weeks specifically on the pump price of fuel and the more flexible exchange rate policy announced by the central bank. It is even more painful for me that a major producer of crude oil with four refineries that once exported refined products is today having to import all of its domestic needs. This is what corruption and mismanagement has done to us and that is why we must fight these ills.
As part of the foundation of the new economy we have had to reform how fuel prices had traditionally been fixed. This step was taken only after protracted consideration of its pros and cons. After comprehensive investigation my advisers and I concluded that the mechanism was unsustainable.
We are also engaged in making recoveries of stolen assets some of which are in different jurisdictions. The processes of recovery can be tedious and time consuming, but today I can confirm that thus far: significant amount of assets have been recovered. A considerable portion of these are at different stages of recovery. Full details of the status and categories of the assets will now be published by the Ministry of Information and updated periodically. When forfeiture formalities are completed these monies will be credited to the treasury and be openly and transparently used in funding developmental projects and the public will be informed.
On the Niger Delta, we are committed to implementing the United Nations Environment Programme report and are advancing clean-up operations. I believe the way forward is to take a sustainable approach to address the issues that affect the delta communities. Re-engineering the amnesty programmes is an example of this. The recent spate of attacks by militants disrupting oil and power installations will not distract us from engaging leaders in the region in addressing Niger Delta problems. If the militants and vandals are testing our resolve, they are much mistaken. We shall apprehend the perpetrators and their sponsors and bring them to justice.
The policy measures and actions taken so far are not to be seen as some experiment in governance. We are fully aware that those vested interests who have held Nigeria back for so long will not give up without a fight. They will sow divisions, sponsor vile press criticisms at home and abroad, incite the public in an effort to create chaos rather than relinquish the vice-like grip they have held on Nigeria.
The economic misfortune we are experiencing in the shape of very low oil prices has provided us with an opportunity to restructure our economy and diversify. We are in the process of promoting agriculture, livestocks, exploiting our solid mineral resources and expanding our industrial and manufacturing base. That way, we will import less and make the social investments necessary to allow us to produce a large and skilled workforce.
Central Bank of Nigeria will offer more fiscal incentives for business that prove capable of manufacturing products that are internationally competitive. We remain committed to reforming the regulatory framework, for investors by improving the ease of doing business in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the first steps along the path of self-sufficiency in rice, wheat and sugar – big users of our scarce foreign exchange – have been taken. The Labour Intensive Farming Enterprise will boost the economy and ensure inclusive growth in long neglected communities. Special intervention funds through the Bank of Agriculture will provide targeted support. Concerns remain about rising cost of foods such as maize, rice, millet, beans and gari. Farmers tell me that they are worried about the cost of fertilizers, pesticides and the absence of extension services. The federal and state governments are on the same page in tackling these hurdles in our efforts at increased food production and ultimately food security.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my appreciation for the increasing role that our women are playing in revitalizing the agricultural sector. Modern farming is still hard and heavy work and I salute our Nigerian women in sharing this burden. In this respect I am very pleased to announce that the government will shortly be launching the national women’s empowerment fund, which I have approved to provide N1.6 billion in micro-finance loans to women across the nation to assist in rehabilitating the economies of rural communities, particularly those impacted by the insurgency and conflict.
With respect to solid minerals, the minister has produced a roadmap where we will work closely with the world bank and major international investors to ensure through best practices and due diligence that we choose the right partners. Illegal mining remains a problem and we have set up a special security team to protect our assets. Special measures will be in place to protect miners in their work environment.
For too long, ours has been a society that neglects the poor and victimizes the weak. A society that promotes profit and growth over development and freedom. A society that fails to recognize that, to quote the distinguished economist Amartya Sen “ poverty is not just lack of money. It is not having the capability to realize one’s full potential as a human being.”
So, today, I am happy to formally launch, by far the most ambitious social protection programme in our history. A programme that both seeks to start the process of lifting many from poverty, while at the same time creating the opportunity for people to fend for themselves.
In this regard, Five Hundred Billion Naira has been appropriated in the 2016 budget for social intervention programmes in five key areas. We are committed to providing job creation opportunities for five hundred thousand teachers and one hundred thousand artisans across the nation. 5.5 million children are to be provided with nutritious meals through our school feeding programme to improve learning outcomes, as well as enrolment and completion rates. The conditional cash transfer scheme will provide financial support for up to one million vulnerable beneficiaries, and complement the enterprise programme – which will target up to one million market women; four hundred and sixty thousand artisans; and two hundred thousand agricultural workers, nationwide. Finally, through the education grant scheme, we will encourage students studying sciences, technology, engineering and maths, and lay a foundation for human capital development for the next generation.
I would like to pay a special tribute to our gallant men and women of the armed forces who are in harm’s way so that the rest of us can live and go about our business in safety. Their work is almost done. The nation owes them a debt of gratitude.
Abroad, we want to assure our neighbours, friends and development partners that Nigeria is firmly committed to democratic principles. We are ready partners in combating terrorism, cyber crimes, control of communicable diseases and protection of the environment. Following on the Paris Agreement, COP 21, we are fully committed to halting and reversing desertification. Elsewhere, we will intensify efforts to tackle erosion, ocean surge, flooding and oil spillage which I referred to earlier by implementing the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) report.
We are grateful to the international community notably France, the US, UK and China for their quick response in helping to tackle the recent Ebola outbreak in our sub-region.
We also acknowledge the humanity shown by the Italian and German governments in the treatment of boat people, many fleeing from our sub-region because of lack of economic opportunity. We thank all our partners especially several countries in the EU.
We appreciate the valuable work that the UN agencies, particularly UNICEF, ICRC, the World Food Program have been doing. We must also appreciate the World Bank, the Gates Foundation, the Global Fund and Educate A Child of Qatar for the excellent work in our health, education and other sectors.
Fellow citizens let me end on a happy note. To the delight of all, two of the abducted Chibok girls have regained their freedom. During the last one year, not a single day passed without my agonizing about these girls. Our efforts have centred around negotiations to free them safely from their mindless captors. We are still pursuing that course. Their safety is of paramount concern to me and I am sure to most Nigerians. I am very worried about the conditions those still captured might be in.
Today I re-affirm our commitment to rescuing our girls. We will never stop until we bring them home safely. As I said before, no girl should be put through the brutality of forced marriage and every Nigerian girl has the right to an education and a life choice.
I thank you and appeal to you to continue supporting the government’s efforts to fix Nigeria.

Iheanacho to Earn 17 Million Weekly

Former Premier League champions, Manchester City, has offered Kelechi Iheanacho £40,000 (N17 million) a week deal to keep the Nigerian at the Etihad Stadium next season.
The Nigerian starlet ended the recent campaign with 14 goals in just 10 starts, being heralded back in his homeland as a result.
The 19-year-old is due to speak with incoming boss, Pep Guardiola, in the coming days, with City insiders insisting the youngster will receive even more chances to impress next year.
Iheanacho is however adamant he will continue to keep his feet on the ground and not let his burgeoning reputation at the Etihad Stadium divert his primary focus.
He said: “I don’t know anyone who is playing who doesn’t want to keep improving and be at the top level.
“I don’t know if I will end up being a top player or not – I’ll be working hard to achieve that and I wouldn’t complain if that happened! I just have to keep going and see where it takes me.
“So much has happened in the past few years and it is difficult to take in. If you start thinking about being here one moment and there the next, your brain would get overloaded and your head would be spinning so it’s best not to think about it too much.”

Natural Ways to Whiten Your Teeth

Almost everybody has the challenge of not having white teeth. Most people in search of remedy visit clinics for enhanced teeth washing. However, there are sublime ways to naturally whiten your teeth.

1) Brushing and Flossing.
Yes brushing with toothpaste doesn't work fantastically well,it just has a way of buffing off stains from the teeth, even when whitening tooth paste are used it does same thing with just additional ingredients. Flossing gets ride of stains hidden into plaques.

2)Apples and Pineapples
Malic Acid in apples boost saliva to wash away acids and toothpaste with Bromelain, a compound in pineapple helps whiten teeth. So find a toothpaste that has both or either of the two compounds and use because eating a bunch load of apples and pineapple haven't shown any remarkable result.

3)Oil Pulling.
This is an old practice in most places. Oil such as seseme, coconut ad olive oil around your mouth to get rid  of bacteria. However, it doesn't really have. any sparkling effect.

4)Hydrogen Peroxide.
Hydrogen peroxide actually changes teeth colour. A study showed that painting the teeth with 6% hydrogen peroxide on teeth made a noticeable difference after 2weeks.

5)Baking Soda.
Apart from the kitchen magic it performs, baking soda has shown to have effective magic on teeth as well. Using a DIY paste of baking soda helps, but using paste with sodium bicarbonate gives better result and overtime works on surface.

6)Watch what you eat.

FG to Provide 1b Eggs for School Feeding

The federal government has said its decision to partially deregulate the downstream sector of the petroleum sector would enhance its school feeding programme. Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, stated this yesterday, when a federal government delegation, led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, David Babachir Lawal, met with members of the National Working Committee and State Executive Committees of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abuja.
At the meeting called to discuss the issues thrown up by deregulation, Mohammed listed several impacts the policy would have on Nigerians. He said, “The first is the employment of 500,000 unemployed graduates, the second is the employment of 100,000 non graduates, technicians and artisans. The third is the one meal a day programme targeting 5.5 million pupils all over Nigeria.
This is the most exciting of all our programmes. Even if we are going to give these children one egg a day, it means we will need 5.5 million eggs and in a calendar year of 200 days, we will need over a billion eggs. You can imagine what this will do to agriculture. “We have the enterprise scheme which is a system of revolving loan. We are targeting one million market women and men, 460,000 artisans and technicians and 200,000 agricultural workers to be given loans through their cooperatives to start their own businesses.
We have the N5,000 conditional cash transfers to one million most vulnerable Nigerians as a first phase. Then finally, we have bursaries, scholarships for all students in Nigeria studying science, technology, engineering and mathematics.” National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, said such meetings would be convened on a regular basis so party members would understand government’s policy. He said: “What this does is to arm everyone of us from the national and state levels so that we can speak with confidence, in addition to whatever passion we can muster about what is going on at the national level and go away with the conviction that things are not just happening capriciously with the conviction that we promised change. Change is a process, it is not an event, not something that happens the day after the government was sworn-in.”

MAN UNITED TO LOSSE MOURINHO IF PSG SUCCEEDS WITH OPEN NEGOTIATIONS

The grass may turn brown for Manchester united should the signing of Mourinho not taken serious as  Paris Saint Germain is in an open negotiation with the manager over taking over France in the next session.

The Daily Mail reports that Mourinho wants to commit his future by the end of the week and should United not make an offer, he could sign for PSG. The French side are looking for a manager to replace Laurent Blanc after his failure to lead the side through the quarter-final stages of the Champions League. However, United is Mourinho's top choice for a move as he wants to return to the premier league and reunite with his family, who are based in England.
The latest development could force chief executive Ed Woodward's hand and urge him to make a decision on Van Gaal, as failure to do so could lead to the unavailability of their top target. There is further pressure on Woodward from the players, with David De Gea set to leave if Van Gaal is not replaced before the end of the summer.
Moreover, Ryan Giggs is may also change course  and is unlikely to act as assistant manager if Mourinho is appointed at the helm. His colleagues from the class of '92 have reportedly told him to look for a future elsewhere in management if he is not given the nod this time round, something Giggs is considering deeply.

Tantrum in House as Kachikwu Tries to defend Subsidy Removal

The National House of Assembly was yesterday put in tantrum and chaos by minority PDP member when kachikwu was called to to the hallowed chamber to defend the federal government's decision to remove fuel subsidy at such a difficult time

The drama started when the Speaker Dagaro called on majority leader Femi Gbajabiamila to move a motion, which was seconded by  Babu Jubril  for kachikwu to enter the  hallowed chamber and explain why the federal government decided to take a hash leap of increasing  fuel pump price from N86.50 to N145. However the motion was met with much confrontation as members of the PDP were seen shouting" nay nay "and waving the national flag.

The speaker after much effort put the house environment calm and kachikwu  addressed the house. He explained that the fuel subsidy will by far help all national refinery to commence full refining by 2018 and the nation to begin exploration of petroleum products by 2019.

Kachikwu boasted that the new price regime has gone into effect, and that " the market will established in matter of days, in terms of production availability, the queue
have virtually disappeared, it is  expected that smuggling and diversion will diminish substantially"

Lagos Officially Oil Producing State.

NEWS CREDIT: GUARDIAN NEWS

With the commencement of crude oil production in Badagry Local Government by Yinka Folawiyo Petroleum Co. Ltd and by the virtue of the provision of Section 162, Sub-Section 2 of Nigerian Constitution, Lagos State has become an oil producing State.

The declaration was made in Lagos on Monday by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode when the management of the company led by the Group Managing Director, Mr Tunde Folawiyo paid him a courtesy visit at the Lagos House.

Yinka Folawiyo Petroleum Co. Ltd (YFP) is pleased to announce that it has commenced production of crude oil from its Aje field located in block OML 113 offshore Lagos,” the company said on Monday, May 3, 2016.

The Aje oil field lies 25 km from the coast in western Nigeria, on the border with Benin. It is situated 64 km from Lagos and is 12 kilometres away from the West Africa Gas Pipeline (12 km away).

It is located in the Dahomey Embayment of southwestern Nigeria, which is the eastern end of the Cretaceous Benin Basin of West Africa. Water depth across the field ranges from 99 metres to over 1,500 metres. The field is estimated to be one of the largest oil fields in Nigeria outside the Niger Delta basin.

Production began after more than 25 years of exploratory, appraisal and developmental activities in the field, making Lagos an oil-producing state.

Ambode lauded the company for its doggedness to achieve the feat after 25 years of hard work

He declared, “I want to thank you very much for this and I say it with all conviction because I know that based on section 162 Sub-Section 2 of the Nigeria Constitution, Lagos becomes an oil-producing state and by virtue of this, the 13 percent derivation that is due to oil producing states, Lagos will start to partake from it by your very good gesture. So we officially declare Lagos State as an oil producing state, we also notify the Federal Government by this action that we would be sharing out of the 13 percent derivation. So all we need do is to apply and then we join.”

The governor also said that the feat has not only placed Lagos in the history books as the first state outside the Niger Delta to become an oil-producing State but has also opened up a new page for revenue generation in the State.

“It also means that by the additional revenue that is coming from this action, we would have more resources to provide infrastructure for Lagosians and this is what we want other investors and businessmen to emulate, so that beyond the issue of profit, you are actually creating impact on people without them necessarily knowing that it is actually coming from a venture like this that you have embarked on,” he said.

FG to Mollify 1m Nigerians with N5000 Monthly

To cushion the harsh effect of the new pump price of Premium Motor Spirt, PMS also called petrol on the people, the presidency is set to implement the N500 billion earmarked in the 2016 budget for social welfare. A statement by the media spokesperson for Vice President Yemi Osinabjo, Mr. Laolu Akande in Abuja on Sunday stated “All together the federal government would be directly impacting the lives of more than 8 million Nigerians in different social investment 2016 budget spending that would provide succor and be a ready-made palliative to ordinary Nigerians.”
Giving a breakdown of the interventions and palliatives, Akande said that said that there would “the direct payment of N5000 monthly to one million extremely poor Nigerians for 12 months as provided for in the 2016 budget for which N$68.7B has been appropriated.” Similarly, the government has also made available a “direct provision of very soft loan -cash for market women, men and traders, including artisans and Agric workers. This would be for a total of 1.76m Nigerians, without the requirement for conventional collateral. Some of the traders will likely get about N60,000.
A total sum of N140.3B has already been appropriated for this in the budget”. The details also showed their there would be “payment of between N23,000 to N30,000 per month to 500,000 unemployed graduates who would be trained, paid and deployed to work as volunteer teachers, public health officers and extension service workers among other responsibilities. According to the media aide, “100,000 artisans would also be trained and paid N191.5B has been set aside for this in the passed budget.” He also said that “At least 5.5 million Nigerian primary school children -ie starting first in 18 states-three per geopolitical zones-would be fed for 200 school days under the free Homegrown School Feeding Programme”, as “N93.1B has been appropriated for this in the 2016 budget.” In this same vein “100,000 tertiary students in Science Technology Engineering & Maths-STEM, plus Education will partake in the N5.8B already provided for this education grant in the budget. Akande stated that
“This payment would also be paid directly to the students.” He stated that these measures that would start in a matter of weeks would certainly lift the ordinary man from the pangs of economic hardship and poverty. “Long before now, the Presidency has made adequate arrangements in the 2016 budget to ensure that Nigerians are lifted from poverty and hardship,” Akande said, adding that “the Buhari presidency is keen to ensure that Nigerians are lifted and that if necessary on an ongoing basis palliatives measures would always been considered to address the conditions of the people.”

FG Meets Labour for 45,000 Minimum Wage Proposal

Three days to the threatened mass action against government’s increase in the price of petrol, indications emerged yesterday that the Federal Government would meet organised labour today in Abuja over the issue, dangling a carrot before labour leaders.
The Guardian learnt that at the meeting slated for 3:00 p.m. at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, the Federal Government will be coming to the parley with the proposal for a new minimum wage that is fixed at N45, 000.But the increase comes with some provisos including reduction in the number of civil servants and merging ministries and agencies.
Indeed, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ayuba Wabba confirmed the scheduled meeting saying he got a text message inviting him and other labour leaders to the meeting.
A source in the Presidency told The Guardian that ministers had been told to lead the initiative on the downsizing. Also, the Efficiency Unit in the Federal Ministry of Finance, which is saddled with coming up with cost reduction strategies is working on the template for the reduction.
The Federal Government would also be relying on the report of the Steve Oronsaiye’s panel on the rationalisation of the civil service in the streamlining process.
It was also learnt that though government said it would not devalue the naira, it would indeed embark on what it termed ‘appropriate’ value of the national currency, which may be in the region of N283 to the dollar.
Meanwhile, fuel scarcity persisted in most of the major cities of the country yesterday despite hopes that petrol would be available since government at the last Federal Executive Council meeting raised the pump price of petrol to N145 per litre.Yet, some outlets are retailing for as high as between N150 and N175 per litre.

is She Keeping it Strictly Professional or What? My Boss Served Me a Query for Coming Late after We Both Spent The Night Out

Story from a Nairalander.

last night was amazing @ a bubbling club in Abuja with my boss. she is tall robust and in her late 20s. I meet her at a social event where we shared contact and she help me get a job in her office. she not only help me get a job but back dated my employment letter and I resumed promoted.
all her kind gestures towards me made me develop a sense of indebtedness to her but have never been able to pay her back except that I make sure she never runs out of data on her phone.
on Thursday  I received a pm from her asking me if I had plans for Friday night. truth be told I don't have anyplans so I told her no. she said she would pick me up later at night.
I knew she needed a companion to one of her many events and don't want her friends to know she is a loner. so I saw it as an opportunity to give back to her

about 4pm as we approach close of business on Friday , a general mail was sent that we would be coming for Saturday duties and default is equal to suspension.

after the mail I felt we probably would not be going out anymore since there is work. she came by my office and drop her car key and told me to pick her and her friends up by 10pm. she picked a drop and left.
at exactly 10:05 I reached her estate and picked her and 2 of her friends as we head to wuse 2.
we went to have dinner and she slipped her ATM in my hand and whispered the code in my ears.

I paid like a boss and we went straight to wine bar not far away. we ordered drinks and she held on to me as if we have been dating for years. she occasionally kiss me on the cheek. I was being careful not to drink too much because am driving and I don't drink much. so I mixed my jack Daniels with coke. thereafter we drove to a club nearby. their blood alcohol was already above the legal limit. the three of them danced like crazy I just stayed calm forming boss in the VIP section. whenever her two friends come close to me, she jumps in the middle like she was jealous. we danced till about two am when I decided its time to go. they were so drunk if not for the help of the security who helped me bring them inside the car, I drove back into the estate and her two friends came down but she was fast asleep. I carried her inside and lay her gently on the bed. she held me and whisper in my ears stay with me tonight. I knew she was drunk and not in her right mind. I tuck her in her bed
spread and kissed her good night and dropped her car key beside her to enable her get to the office in the morning.

I took a drop home and sleep off immediately. I woke up 7:30 and was running late. I quickly prepared for work but got to the office 30min late. everyone was on time except me. I logged into my mail and saw a query from my boss.
at first I felt it was a kind of cover up eye service but she copies disciplinary and regional head in the mail that unroll 10am to reply why I came late and should not be suspended .
I immediately sent her PMs but she replied none. so I replied the query saying I took my sick sister to a vigil for healing and I over slept after the vigil.
she sent another mail instantly that she recommend that I be suspended for a week without pay with immediate effect.

seriously I was confused because I can't believe it was the same person I spent whole lastnight with.
I picked my bag and just went back home wondering if I was dreaming.

14 Ways We are Worse-Off Since Buhari.

Since the president of the good people of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari was sworn in on May 29, 2015, we are still waiting to enjoy the dividends of democracy. By and large, our lives are worse off. Majority of the over 170 million Nigerians are in more pains than they were. Only liars, boot lickers and those near the corridors of power and apologists disagree. Things can get better, no doubt. But right now, things are far worse than contemplated.

Here are the 14 ways the lives of the masses have been affected…

Income dwindling and devalued

If you earned N18,000 in 2015, at an average exchange rate of N180 to a dollar, your income is actually $100. Today, your N18,000 can only buy $52 ( at N345 to a dollar ).

Apart from this simple arithmetic, your $52 today cannot buy the same items it did last year. Prices have skyrocketed!

Effectively, your income has dwindled and practically devalued. This scenario is extended to all groups, no matter the income and status.

Stock market collapsing

The collapsing stock market is evident. Today (Friday, May 13), market capitalization stood at N9.098 trillion. In April 2015, capitalization rose to N11.990 trillion, after Buhari was declared the winner of the presidential elections. That is a difference of N2.9 trillion.

Investors are scared, the market is not doing too well because businesses are troubled. A lot of the quoted companies are facing difficulties because of the unfriendly operating environment.

Dollar plummeting

The dollar at the black market fell to N190 in the euphoria of Buhari’s victory. Shortly after, it jumped over the N200 mark … and it has been rising ever since. Today, it is about N345, even as government mentioned a spurious N285 figure.

Factories quieter, businesses struggling

With foreign exchange difficult to come back, and raw materials unavailable, many factories are quieter, production scaled down, as some close down. Even enterprises are as troubled as cost of production rise. Many traders and supplies are hiding under scarcity of dollars to jerk up price, hammering entrepreneurs who are out of breath and panting. Artisans are moaning as machines cease their thud and whimper.

Rent higher

Land lords are also using scarcity of dollars and rising cost of living to increase rent, further reducing the available income of the Nigerians. With shelter on top of everyone’s scale, there is no escape. From rooms to self contained, shops to flats and duplexes, rent is up.

Food more expensive

Even those selling tomato and fish, pepper and groceries are blaming the dollar and hiking prices of their produce. People are skipping meals and reducing quality and quantity. There is more hunger in the land.

More people out of job

As factories and businesses struggle to produce, with some scaling down, others closing shop, unemployment is rife. Many more people are under employed or out of job. This sad scenario is evident.

Petrol scarcer and more expensive

For the better part of this administration we have been at filling stations, in kilometer Lon queues, sleeping there and paying far above the N86.50 per litre for petrol. Across the nation, we have not had this long palaver with petrol. Now, a litre has been fixed at not more than N145, but we are still buying it far more than that price and it is scarcer.

On account of the scarcity, smaller businesses are coughing and collapsing as they struggle to power their generators. People are late for work as they queue at stations or wait for buses. Homes have become unbearable as darkness, with power outages, has become our companions.

Power outages punishing

On one occasion at least, the whole of Nigeria was in darkness as megawatts slipped to zero! Total darkness!! And for the better part of the last one year, ordinary talk with no action has dominated the public space concerning electricity. Households have become inhabitable; sleep has been murdered as heat conspired with lack of electricity and fuel to punish Nigerians. Companies are becoming cemeteries.

Nigerians sadder, more aggressive, depressed and fall ill easily

Many more people than ever are sadder, forlorn and confused. They are at a loss on what steps to take, they are losing their humanity. Legions are more aggressive, easily angered and quick to quarrel at little slights. Some are transferring aggression, from their lack of financial stamina. Depression, serious depression in the league of mental issues, is commonplace. And it is easy to fall ill as immunity plummets as a result of lack of hope and confusion.

Insecurity and rise in opportunistic crime

There is a general feeling of insecurity as trouble spots multiply and hoodlums take advantage of financial difficulties. More dangerous crime of rituals and kidnapping are coming into our lexicon. Petty crimes are frquent. And terrorists, Boko Haram and Niger Delta Avengers have not been conquered. Now we have herdsmen who are raping, maiming and killing.

Future looks bleaker, especially for youths

The army of unemployed youths, graduates and the uneducated are frustrated. They have lost hope as millions join the labour market that is far more than saturated. New companies are not springing up as expected, jobs are hardly created. Those in school are jittery and worried about the future.

Economic migration

Many are taking dangerous routes and migrating as economic refugees. They believe anywhere is better than Nigeria. And those in Nigeria are flooding the cities, putting pressure on infrastructure and resources. They are abandoning agriculture, and some there may be serious scarcity of produce hitherto widely available.

We are less compassionate and willing to help others financially

Those you run to for help, big men and women, are also complaining. Spiritual places of solace and refuge have fewer donations and are helping less. It appears compassion is dying. The average family is abandoned, on their own…

Ungrateful Country, Late President Yar'adua's Wives Cry Out

Hajiya Turai and Hajiya Hauwa Yar’Adua are unhappy women. This is because Nigeria has forgotten the late former president, like the dust and silence of the upper shelf. Turai’s heart bleeds like a freshly bruised vein as you read. And the reason is not farfetched. Six years after her beloved husband, former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, died after a protracted ailment, Nigerians seem to have forgotten him. As the two women in his life mark the sixth anniversary of their husband’s death, they wonder if memories of Yar’Adua and his legacies as a former president and governor of Katsina State have eroded with the passage of time.Sources close to Hajia Turai revealed that it was heartrending for her to note that memories of her husband have faded fromthe hearts of even his trusted aides and political associates while he was Head of State. It was even more heartbreaking to note that no newspaper or broadcast station remembered the milestone in the life of the Yar’Aduas. There was no paid advertorial in remembrance of the late president who was widely regarded as a gentleman and unpretentious statesman. It was only the immediate family membersof the former president who died on May 5,2010, that were in London last week to hold special prayers to mark the sixth anniversary of his demise. A source in the family said they were led by Yar’Adua’s widow, Hajiya Turai and offered special prayers for the repose of the former Nigerian leader’s soul. Yar’Adua’s former wife, Hajiya Hauwa, who is also in London, said they also converged to remember the former president as part of activities marking the anniversary of his death.Simply Herbert! The Perfection of a brilliant banker, Herbert WigweAngels fly because they take themselves lightly. They do not think too much of themselves, so does Herbert Wigwe, the MD of Access Bank. Like an angel, Herberttakes himself very lightly despite his socio-economic weight. He wears his badge of temperance and humility in the shape of a bow of ribbon; thus affirming that he isn’t what many of his disparagers make him out to be. Contrary to misconceptions about his character, Herbert, according to sources close to him, is actually a modest, compassionate, accommodating and understanding man.His only shortcoming if at all it could be considered ‘shortcoming,’ is his lack of tolerance for sycophancy, bribery or any form of corruption. The miracle-working banker is more of polished diamond among the rough, tarnished czars of Nigeria’s banking industry. It is often said that he who rides the tides of industry influences the thought of his times. Eventually, he commands the epochs that follow and impresses his name on eternity.Such an individual no doubt sways the applause of listening Senates. If he is cut of the rare stock that Wigwe hails from, he effortlessly attracts the patronage of leaders of men.Herbert like most great men, did not attain his current height by sudden flight. While most of his rivals and other peers slept, he was toiling upward day and night. As head honcho of Access Bank, Wigwe understands the need to abide by the company’s corporate philosophy which is to become the world’s most respected African bank, thus he would never engage in any act or association that would be inimical to the progress and good image ofhis organisation.Rich, spoilt, dead! The pain of a fatherChildren are meant to be bearers of joy and everlasting bliss to their parents. But Ibrahim Uwais became a harbinger of painand misery to his parents thus stifling theirjoy and harming their reputation. The late son of former Chief Justice Mohammed Uwais unfurled like a blemish on his father’s reputation when he turned radical and joined deadly terrorist sect, ISIS, in 2015. Recently, Ibrahim suffered excruciating death on his deadly campaignwith ISIS mates. Consequently, his father is heartbroken. There is no gainsaying sadness invaded the household of the retired legal luminary when news of his son’s enlistment with ISIS broke out but at his death, Justice Uwais and the entire family are devastated.Late Ibrahim Uwais left Nigeria in 2015, telling close family members he was travelling to Turkey to explore business opportunities. He took along his two wives and five kids. However, he slipped from Turkey into Syria with his entire family and joined the burgeoning army of volunteer fighters who travel from different parts of the world to enlist with ISIS, a group whoseagenda is to carve out an Islamist caliphate.Just like Alhaji Abdulmutallab whose son, Umar Farouk, attempted to blow up an American plane in flight, Justice Uwais cared and loved his son dearly. He gave him the best education and treated him to the finest luxury money could buy. However, after spending lavishly on Ibrahim, the latter chose the path of dishonour to the consternation of his father and other loved ones.

Aircraft Pilots and Engineers Stand in Support of Fuel Subsidy

The National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) said on Saturday itwould stand strongly in support of the federal government’s resolve to fully deregulate the downstream sector of the Nigerian oil and gas industry. The declaration of support by the aircraft pilots and engineers came barely few hours after the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC; Trade Union Congress, TUC and their affiliates and allies in the civil society issued a 96-hour ultimatum to government to rescind the decision or face the wrath of their members.NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, told reporters in Abuja that the policy, which resulted in the hike in petrol price from N86.50 per litre to N145, was rejected because it was “unrealistic, unaffordable, and unacceptable.”But, NAAPE, in a contrasting opinion, described the deregulation policy as a stepin the right direction, pointing out that although it was long overdue, it was better late than never.National President, Isaac Balami, who commended the government for the bold decision, said the subsidy scheme was extremely fraud-prone, adding that trying to reform the process was like “attemptingto reform Satan (devil) – an impossibility task”.“Our advice to the government is to use the money that will be saved to put in place infrastructures that will create jobs for Nigerians; ensuring that our refineries are working optimally, and encouraging local production to ameliorate the temporary hardship the citizen are going through,” Mr. Balami said.He said the operators in the aviation industry, government must begin the refining of the aviation fuel, popularly called Jet A1 from the Kaduna and Port Harcourt refineries, to help reduce the costs of operation and flight tickets, since fuel alone constituted about 30 to 40 per cent of operational cost.Mr. Balami said government should also look into the issue of establishing a national carrier as promised or strengthen the local domestic carriers as soon as possible, as the industry was currently at astandstill.“We need more jobs to be created for our pilots and engineers, while reiterating our unalloyed support for this novel and bold decision the Federal Government has taken to secure the future of Nigeria,” the NAAPE said.Despite the threat by the NLC to call workers out on strike if the federal government fail to accede to their demands, the NAAPE president said the association would not allow pilots and aircraft engineers to join in any strike.“As far as we are concern, Nigerians should go ahead with their travel plans. The truth is that the industry itself is already being affected by the current challenges in the country and any move to short down the aviation Sector will lead to a total collapse of the Sector,” Mr. Balami said.In what appears a division in the rank of labour, the two influential oil workers unions, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, and its counterparts in the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, had on Friday at the end of its emergency National Executive Council meeting in Calabar also opted to support government. The groups said in a joint communique that they would want the government to intensify consultations with various interest groups to work out ways the proceeds from the removal of fuel subsidywould be utilized to the benefits of the people.Although the President of PENGASSAN, Francis Johnson, was present at the briefing by the NLC on Saturday, he said the decision of the two oil workers unions to support the government policy was not to suggest they would not abide by whatever final resolution would be arrived at at the end of ongoing consultations.

Fuel Subsidy: Buhari, APC Owe Jonathan Apology

Reported By Damilola Oyedele

For inciting protests against the removal of fuel subsidy in 2012 on the grounds that it was an anti-people policy, and now turning around to remove the same subsidy, President Muhammadu Buhari and the members of the All Progressives Congress have been told that they owe former President Goodluck Jonathan an apology.

This is the position of the lawmaker representing Ukwa Federal Constituency of Abia state in the House of Representatives, Hon. Uzoma Nkem-Abonta (PDP), who accused Buhari of having taken a destructive position in 2012 without reasoning and economic analysis.

Abonta however expressed his support for the removal, but called for a total deregulation of the sector, passage and implementation of the Petroleum Industry Bill.

Several members of the opposition party have already berated the Buhari administration for campaigning with promises that he would not increase the price of fuel, and not keeping the promise.

Speaking with THISDAY, Abonta also accused the seventh House of Representatives of playing the script of those who wanted Jonathan to fail with the resolution against the removal in 2012.

“They occupied Nigeria in 2012. What changed between 2012 and now causing the increase? That means they were ignorant and lacked political reasoning. The criticized Jonathan out of trying to condemn him. Those who surround him (Buhari) misled Nigerians using the Labour movement. Lai Mohammed was one of those who occupied Nigeria. What would he say now?” Abonta said.

“I hope the eighth assembly would do the right thing and let the removal stay, although those at the helm now all canvassed against it, now they should tell Nigerians sorry,” he added.

Abonta, who is also the Chairman of the Committee on Public Petitions, advised that the money saved from the removal of subsidy should be invested through a clear economic agenda, which he noted the current government lacks.

He urged Buhari to consult those who ran the economy under President Jonathan, particularly Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, whose polices managed to keep the dollar at N160 for several years.

Look at the Comment Dino Melaya Got on Questioning Why Nigeria is Called Fantastically Corrupt

"Nigeria, World Leader in Anti-Terrorism Fight"U.S

Mr Antony Blinken, the U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, on Friday described Nigeria as the leader of other countries in the fight against terrorism. Blinken, who hailed Nigeria’s anti-terrorism stance, spoke to State House Correspondents after a visit to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in Abuja on Friday. The U.S. Deputy Secretary of State is in Nigeria ahead of Saturday’s Security Summit to be hosted by President Muhammadu Buhari. “Now here we have this very important security summit that Nigeria is hosting, with countries around the world attending. “This is an evidence of the strength of the Nigerian leadership, with the effort that the President and the Vice President are making to strengthen the economy, fight corruption and deal with the security challenges”, he said. He further hailed the relationship between Nigeria and the U.S. since Buhari’s inauguration as Nigeria’s President. “I was here just a little less than a year ago in preparation for President Buhari’s visit to Washington and since then we have seen the relationship between Nigeria and the U.S. grow deeper and stronger”, he stated. Blinken expressed belief that all Boko Haram’s captives, especially the Chibok girls, would regain freedom. “We have been focused on this from day one, doing whatever we can to provide all the assistance and information that we can develop’’, he said of the Chibok girls. According to him, this is something that has personally touched so many people in the U.S., including President Barack Obama and his family. “It is something that we are focused on every single day. Of course there are others besides the girls who have been taken hostage by Boko Haram. “Our thoughts are with them as well and we are determined as the Nigerian government, not to rest until we get them home”, he added.
