How The Blind Dream, 7 Facts About Sleep


Of course  humans and non-humans  participate in this activity. Sleep is a state were the human body goes numb and the brain experiences a reduced form of unconsciousness. However, I have taken time to point out 7 interesting facts about sleep.
  • Humans spend 1/3 of their life sleeping. that is to say that at the average of 70years one sleeps at approximately 24 years in a life time...WOW! that's a lot of sleep.
  • There are five stages of sleep. Stage 1,2,3,4,REM(rapid eye movement).Stage 1(light sleep, very slow muscle and eye activity) , Stage 2(eye movement, and brain waves fluctuates), Stage 3/4(deep sleeping and difficult to wake) ,REM (paralyzed muscles/limbs, penile erection in males, increased heart rate).      
  • 1/4 of couples sleep separately as a result of  sleeping disorder like fidgeting, snoring, parasomnia e.tc.
  • Sleep deprivation has more tendency to kill more than food deprivation
  • People born  blind  experience blind dreams. so to say, their  dreams includes emotion, sound, smell interplaying rather than sight.
  • Sleeping upwards can help digestion and sleeping by your left helps reduce heartburn, acid reflux and beneficial to pregnant mom
  • It takes 5-15 minutes to fail asleep at night
