59 years old Ricky Johnson will receive $2 million dollar from the State for wrongfully spending 40 years behind bars for the murder he did not commit.

Johnson in 1979, was  sentenced to prison for the death of a businessman after the testimony of a 12 year old who said he saw him commit the crime. However, things  changed for good when a witness Eddie Vernon, renacted his testimony setting Jackson free.

Jackson has already been awarded $1million dollars on Thursday as a down payment. The $2 million dollars is computed from the states base rate for wrongful conviction compensation which stands at $40,330 dollars per year in jail, including computation for inflation and tax free awards.
