Hoodlums Kill 2 Policeman and wounds 2 in Rivers

Two policemen attached to the Rivers State Judiciary are  feared dead while two others were seriously injured when unknown hoodlums attacked the State High Court complex in Port Harcourt in the early hours of yesterday.

A source at the Judiciary complex said two of the policemen, who were on duty were hacked to death by their assailants while two others, who received machete cuts were rushed to the hospital.

It was gathered that the ugly development forced the High Court complex to be shut down as judicial workers in the complex vacate the premises for fear of the unknown.

This is as an armoured personnel carrier (APC) belonging to the 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, have been stationed at the main entrance into the complex, with soldiers checking the movement of people in and around the complex.

Also, there is a heavy presence of policemen from the Police Mobile Force (PMF) 19, Port Harcourt, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and the Swift Operation Squad (SOS) who are providing security at the complex.

One of the workers, who pleaded anonymity said a senior police officer attached to the Judiciary addressed the workers and advice them to return to their respective homes until the complex is checked and satisfied safe for work and other related activities.
