SUPER Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh and his players, yesterday joined other Nigerians in condoling with their captain, Vincent Enyeama, who recently lost his mother. The coach has also assured Nigerians that his team will fight for glory when they lock horns with the Taifa Stars of Tanzania tomorrow in a 2017 Africa Nations Cup qualifier.
The squad of 23 players and officials left Nigeria for Dar es Salaam from the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja, aboard a chartered flight without Skipper Enyeama. But Oliseh has assured that the absence of the Lille of France goalkeeper will not affect the performance of the team.
According to the Eagles Media Officer, Toyin Ibitoye, Oliseh has certified that every player in the squad to Tanzania was primed to give the Taifa Stars a run for their money, adding that the team have adopted the required strategy to cage the East Africans in front of their home supporters .
“Because the game is crucial to Nigeria, the NFF has also motivated the players in different ways to surmount their opponents,” he said.
Meanwhile, Stand-in Captain, Ahmed Musa, has vowed to shoot down the Taifa Stars in Dar es Salaam.
The CSKA Moscow star has been named the captain of the team for this game, while Kenneth Omeruo is the assistant captain.
“We will not underrate Tanzania, especially as the match will hold in front of their home fans. But that does not mean that we will not do what we have to do to win the game.
“The coach has been preaching the merits in playing as a team, rather than individual skills and we are gradually becoming a cohesive unit.”
“I believe this will be the beginning of another glorious period for us,” he said,
