F.G to Work on Aba roads and Southeast

On the one year anniversary and empowerment program organised by Hon Ossy Prestige. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal has made it clear that the Federal Government is really interested in developing the Southeast, especially the road network. Mr. Gideon Samani who represented the SGF, said the President is  willing to work on developing a new country and the Southeast are not to be left out. Gideon who narrated his road challenge on coming to Aba from Imo said the state was no different from an IDP camp.

“We have noted the problems of this area as presented by the traditional rulers. During my trip from Owerri, we have seen how terrible the roads are. It is like if you are part of the IDPs in the North East zone.
You know in the budget, we have provided money for fixing some of the roads, creating employment for the youths, including money for skill acquisition. Already, we are employing about 10,000 policemen.
We have budgeted money for the less privileged. Mr. President is looking for men and women who will team up with him to rebuild the nation and make it great again.
He wants people who will team up with him to fight corruption. Mr. President is trying his best to do away with corruption. Our President is also in the assignment of recovering stolen money.”

He commended Hon. Prestige for his remarkable work  and urged Aba people and the entire Southeast to give  Buhari the necessary support he needs

The Kuje Prisoner, Leader of IPOB and Director of Radio Biafra and Television, Nnamdi Kanu has finally indicated Interest negotiating with the federal Government on the terms of his release. Kanu was on October 14, 2015, arrested by security operatives upon his arrival to Nigeria from United Kingdom. He has been in person since January 20.

Nnamdi Kanu alongside David Nwawusi and Benjamin Madubugwu are answering to six-count treason charge.

Amidst the protest by IPOB for his release he has made it clear through his lawyer,Ifeanyi Ejiofor that he has no relationship with the activities of MEND and maintains he doesn't have anything to do with MEND  negotiating for his release and should F.G needs to talk they knew where they kept him.Ifeanyi Ejiofor has this to say.

"In the past few days, the media was awash with news on negotiation going on between the Federal Government and the members of MEND, where our client’s name (Nna-mdi Kanu) conspi-cuously featured.

It is on that note that we wish to inform the general public that Nnamdi Kanu has no connection, contact, ties or any form of relationship with the members of MEND.

As such, MEND has no implied, direct or express authority of Nnamdi Kanu to represent him or IPOB in any purported negotiation, going on between MEND and the Federal Govern-ment. “The general public is accordingly advised to ignore, discountenance and disregard the falsehood being peddled by MEND. Nnamdi Kanu does not know them!

However, Nnamdi Kanu is not averse to political solution, in resolving his present politically orchestrated ordeal. Kanu welcomes genuine political solution to this case.

The FG does not need to sponsor their repre-sentatives to travel to far away Bayelsa State or the creeks of Niger Delta region, in order to reach Nnamdi Kanu. They know where they kept him, which is easily accessible to them."

Aba has always known to be a no nonsense town perhaps that's is why on Tuesday, tricycle riders stage a protest against the police and army which they have alleged to be extorting them.

One of the tricycle operators, Mr Cletus said "We have kept quite under their act and we  are tired of it. By the time we finish settling them we are left with nothing for the owner of the keke and a lot of us have lost our keke because we couldn't pay up to our owners"
Another rider, Eme Udo said " Everyday they make it a rule that we must pay and when we don't we are delayed in our business and punish us in any means they find suitable. We wonder if we are working for them or ourselves"

The Chairman of the association, Mr Eugene Eze, said that his team had worked hard to sustain a good rapport with the police in Aba but the effort seemed not to work.

He said that the association would seek audience with Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu and the commissioner of police on their plight.

Following the complaints of parents concerning the ridiculousness of Unity Schools fees. The Federal Government has put a halt to PTA fees and reduce development fees  to N5000 in all Unity Schools. The Minister of Education, Malam Amadu Amadu on Tuesday disclosed that the new measures were aimed to  reducing school fees and managing the situation where  PTA and development fees are more than the school fees. The Minister made an example with Kings College, Lagos and the Federal Science and Technical College, Yaba where the fees charged by government for JSS1 in the first term is N69, 400, while the PTA collections stand at N70,000 and N74,000, respectively per child for the same first term, totalling to 139,490 and N143,400 respectively. Adamu Adamu said "Government views with grave concerning the activities of PTAs in unity colleges which have even formed themselves into national associations, instead of limiting themselves to the schools where their children attend”. The statement added that any project that should be carried out by PTA Should be written to and approved by the Ministry of Education
